Throughout U.S. history, there are been various social movements that have been the catalysts of change and have made the world what it is today. Direct actions such as protests, rallies, marches, and public demonstrations have been utilized to propel such movements forward. This data visualization shows how many people have been in attendance at direct actions with greater than 500 participants that have taken place in U.S. cities from February 2017 to February 2018, in support of various well-known social movements. It also depicts the number of direct actions that have taken place within each state during a specified time range.
